A beautiful modern upgrade to the classic condo. This Whistler renovation project’s fresh colours, open space, creative storage use makes this the perfect weekend getaway.
PURPOSE & CONSTRUCTION CHALLENGES
- Re-designed family’s dark cramped vacation condo to function as rental in ski season with efficient storage for personal effects
- Very tight budget
- Unique challenges to accommodate 2nd toilet
- Condo located on second floor without elevator proved challenging in removing and delivering materials, roughing in new plumbing
- Permitting issues very challenging and restrictive with Municipality
- Challenging restrictions on replacement of windows and window treatments

EFFICIENT USE OF SPACE
- Removed plumbing and electrical chase wall at end of kitchen counter and re-designed original 80’s kitchen
- Peninsula top extended as eating bar
- Original layout one bedroom one bathroom, redesigned as two bed & two bath
- Augmented space and challenge of clutter at entrance by removing sauna and closet, creating mudroom and family storage
- Expanded visual with great room design, pops of colour, increased lighting
CREATIVITY AND FINISHING
- Design embraces functionality for rental while also maintaining private use
- Installed new lighting, pot lights, blinds on windows creating bright airy feel
- Upgraded fireplace, extended hearth to create large wood box, bright patterned tile
- Area including existing sauna, closet, bath and bedroom redesigned to include new mudroom/storage, two baths and two bedrooms
- Bold, fresh colours in paint and accessories
- Sleek modern kitchen with high gloss laminate, upper cabinets & open shelf combo
- Ceasarstone countertops, stainless appliances, micro-hood combination, under-cabinet lighting, white subway tiles
- Easy care durable flooring, heated tile in entrance, baths and kitchen
- Mud room-storage area featured in a Houzz article
- High gloss floating vanity, integrated vanity tops with double sinks

- Removed wall in kitchen, electrical and plumbing re-configured
- Added second bath with special pump toilet
