RDC has been busy with a Single Family SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panel) home in the Emerald subdivision of Whistler BC. The home will be approximately 3800 square feet. Keeping in line with RDC's philosophy of 'Building a Better' more energy efficient and comfortable home, this home has been designed to offer passive heating in the winter and passive cooling in the summer. In the coming months, this blog will keep you updated on the building and practices used to construct this house. Visit often and please feel free to send your feedback to info@rdcfinehomes. Tell us what you like or dislike and what you'd like to see more of! Here are a series of pictures from the initial demolition of the old house on site, ... to excavation ... ICF forms ready to go ... to forming
 ... the backfill and damproofing

If you are interested in finding out about SIP Panels (Structurally Insulated Panels), www.sips.org/ is a fantastic resource. This is the home of the Structural Insulated Panel Association, and it contains a wealth of information for anyone interested in building with SIP Panels. Once you have accessed this resource, feel free to call us here at RDC and we can sit down with you and discuss the projects we have used Insulspan Brand SIPs in, and the reasons we feel strongly about using these panels in our ongoing projects, and how the use of these panels really does help to build a better home. |

Sips Panels have arrived and been installed at the Fire rebuild. The Sips panels allow for a high R value roof, that is easily installed in a short timeframe - in this case, one day. Home with fire damaged roof removed and prior to Panel installation.
Craning in the panels with the crane maneuvering them into place.
Lowering down the panels so they can be attached to the structure. Giving the thumbs up - Panels being attached following the Crane doing its' job!
Sips installation complete - A fully insulated roof - Weather cooperated and the new roof is on in only a few hours! |
